Riverview Manor helps Linda Boyt retire in style'I have had an amazing 30 years . . . When you come through those doors, it's like coming home'July 27, 2012PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - After serving OMNI Health Care for 30 years, restorative-care aide Linda Boyt spent her last day at Riverview Manor in the spirit of fun and laughter, as her colleagues at the Peterborough long-term care home wished her well in her retirement. The home hosted a farewell party yesterday (July 26) for Linda, who began her career at Frost Manor in 1982 and moved to Riverview Manor a few years later when it opened. Linda says she has too many fond memories of life at OMNI Health Care during the past 30 years to name just one, but notes what has made her career great has been the residents and staff members she has worked with, as well as having the opportunity to work with an organization like OMNI that makes homes feel like, well, homes. “I have had an amazing 30 years,” she tells the OMNIway. “I have been treated like family from Day 1. When you come through those doors, it’s like coming home.” To say thank you for Linda’s years of service, her colleagues presented her with an array of flowers and gifts, including an ornate watch and bracelet set. And for her ride home? Well, after 30 years of service her friends just couldn’t let her go home any old way — they hired a limousine to greet Linda and her husband, Alan, at 3 p.m. as she left the home for her last shift. While Linda has entered retirement, she is going to be busy. She and Alan will soon be travelling aboard an ocean liner to England, where Alan is originally from, to spend a few months. Shortly after their return the couple plans to travel across Canada.
