Resident focus, organizational skills key strengths of new clinical leadSusan Cymbaluk says she's looking forward to working as an educator and mentoring othersJuly 24, 2012Susan Cymbaluk says her resident focus and organizational skills acquired through her many years serving residents at Burnbrae Gardens will benefit her in her new role — OMNI Health Care’s operations manager/clinical lead. Cymbaluk, who is currently administrator and director of care at the Campbellford long-term care home, will step into her new position in early August. She describes the aspects of her new job she’s looking forward to most. “I’m looking forward to being an educator for the company, mentoring new directors of care, policy development (and) seeing new programs being developed until they are finished,” she tells the OMNIway, adding the sense of accomplishment from the position will be rewarding. “Seeing (projects) through — from start to finish with each — (will) be very beneficial.” As part of her new role, which was recently created by home office, Cymbaluk will be mentoring and orientating new directors of care, helping roll out nursing programs and implementing educational initiatives for nurses. Cymbaluk is also applauding OMNI’s willingness to promote people from within the organization. Her recent posting is the latest step in her career at OMNI. “I started as a part-time registered nurse on the night shift, then went to full time on evenings, full time on days, then clinical care co-ordinator, and then administrator,” she recalls. Cymbaluk’s move to a new position is one of a series of changes OMNI has seen during the past month. Former chief operating officer (COO) Candace Chartier is now CEO of the Ontario Long Term Care Association, former operations director Shawn Riel has moved into the COO position, former operations manager Aimee Merkley is now western director of operations, and former corporate nutritional care co-ordinator Chris Weber has taken the role of nutrition and food services operations manager.
